State House Nairobi, – In a significant move aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery in Kenya, President William Samoei Ruto announced that Othaya’s Mwai Kibaki Hospital, an annex of Kenyatta National Hospital, will be gazetted as a parastatal. In his statement, President Ruto emphasized that this transition will enable Mwai Kibaki Hospital to be fully equipped and better resourced, thereby improving its capacity to serve the healthcare needs of the population. The President’s announcement followed a meeting with Nyeri MPs at State House Nairobi, where they discussed several key projects and programs for the county. Among the topics covered were the government’s plans for road development, the construction of new stadia, the establishment of fresh produce markets, and enhancements to water infrastructure.

This initiative is part of a larger effort by the government to boost healthcare accessibility and quality as Kenya prepares to launch its Universal Health Coverage program next month.
