Stuart Young Assumes Office as Trinidad and Tobago’s New Prime Minister

Trinidad – In a significant political transition, Stuart Young has been sworn in as the new Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, succeeding Dr. Keith Rowley, who resigned after years of dedicated service.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the President’s House in St. Ann’s, where President Christine Kangaloo administered the oath of office to Young.

Young, 50, previously served as the Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister.

His political career includes roles as Minister of National Security and Minister of Communications.

Following his swearing-in, Young is expected to announce a new Cabinet, with reports indicating that Keith Scotland, SC, currently Minister in the Ministry of National Security, is likely to be appointed as Attorney General, succeeding Reginald Armour, SC, who has stepped down.

Dr. Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, extended his gratitude to Dr. Rowley for his service and offered best wishes to Young in his new role.

This leadership change comes ahead of the upcoming general elections, marking a pivotal moment in Trinidad and Tobago’s political landscape.
