Scarborough’s Budding Authors Celebrate Book Launch of Whispers from the Story Tree

Written by on November 23, 2024

Scarborough, ON – The vibrant literary spirit of Scarborough is set to shine as 19 young authors unveil their creative works in Whispers from the Story Tree, an anthology featuring original stories and artwork. The official book launch will take place on December 5, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the Centennial College Event Center, located at 937 Progress Avenue, Scarborough, Ontario.

Organized by The Reading Partnership in collaboration with Story Planet, this event celebrates the creativity and hard work of students from Joseph Brant, Military Trail, and Willow Park Public Schools. Over eight intensive sessions, participants immersed themselves in storytelling, illustration, and literary exploration through the transformative 360° Stories program.

The program provided students with hands-on guidance from established authors and illustrators. Workshops were held at the Clark Centre for the Arts and featured sessions led by Randell Adjei, an accomplished poet, entrepreneur, and the founder of the youth-led initiative R.I.S.E. Edutainment. Adjei’s expertise and passion set the tone for the students’ journey, inspiring them to embrace storytelling as a means of self-expression.

The anthology is the culmination of weeks of creativity, including nature walks, brainstorming exercises, and poetry celebrations, helping participants refine their ideas and bring their stories to life through vibrant illustrations. A school chaperone noted, “I saw their confidence as writers improve. Thanks for a wonderful opportunity!”

The December 5th launch promises a memorable evening with keynote remarks from Randell Adjei, author readings, a Q&A session with the young writers, refreshments, and the opportunity to purchase copies of the anthology.
