National Black Health Town Hall to Spotlight Community Strengths and Health Leadership

Toronto, Canada – As anticipation builds for the upcoming National Black Health Town Hall, hosted by the Black Opportunity Fund (BOF) on July 18, 2024, stakeholders are gearing up for a transformative discussion on harnessing community strengths for enhanced health outcomes.

Scheduled to be held virtually from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm EST, the third installment of this crucial event series aims to spotlight the pivotal role of Black health leaders and professional organizations in advancing health service delivery within the community.

Dr. Onye Nnorom of the Dalla Lana School of Public Health will kick off the session with a welcome address and land acknowledgment, setting the stage for an insightful evening. Serving as moderator, Dr. Nnorom will facilitate discussions featuring esteemed panelists including Dr. Nicolas Cadet from CIUSSS du Centre, Dr. Everton Gooden representing North York General Hospital and the University of Toronto, and Dr. Delores Mullings from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

The panel will also include voices from advocacy groups such as Dr. Mojola Omole of the Black Physicians of Ontario, Noreen Sibanda, and Dayirai Kapfunde from the Alberta Black Therapist Network, and Dr. Damilola Iduye of the Pan Canadian Nurses of African Descent. Together, they will explore strategies to leverage community assets and strengths to address health disparities and promote wellness.

Attendees can look forward to a dynamic agenda that includes panel presentations followed by an interactive Q&A session, providing an opportunity for engagement and dialogue on critical health issues affecting the Black community.
