Kingston, Jamaica – Veteran reggae singer J.C. Lodge continues to prove her staying power in the music industry with her latest track, Signal, now charting at #7 on the Jamaica YouTube rankings. Produced by Richard “Lion Face” Thomas for Lion King Muzik, the song attracted more than 217,000 listeners between July 8 and July 14, marking another milestone for the reggae icon.
A Modern One-Drop with Classic Appeal
Performed over a traditional one-drop reggae beat, Signal captures the emotions of a woman yearning for a sign from her love interest. The song is part of a riddim compilation that also features tracks by Maxi Priest and Sean Paul, Morgan Heritage, Luciano, and rising artist Quan Dajai.
Lion Face, who has a long history of producing reggae hits since the early 2000s, expressed his excitement over the reception to Signal. “J.C. has a beautiful voice. We are happy that fans are enjoying what she’s putting out – good Reggae music,” he said.
Global Radio Support and Listener Feedback
The track made its radio debut on Isle 95 and The Reef 103.5 FM in the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as on MoodsRadio UK. In Canada, Ottawa’s CHUO 89.7 FM veteran broadcaster Papa Richie called the compilation “a modern classic,” praising its lineup of seasoned and emerging talent.
Listeners have responded positively to the riddim’s diverse artistry. Lion Face noted, “This riddim is extra special because we hear Reggae the way the genre originally released music – with multiple artists on the riddim. We have Morgan Heritage featuring Peetah on the lead vocals, Sean Paul on a one-drop riddim, and J.C. Lodge and Maxi Priest shining. Luciano sings about love for his Empress, and Quan Dajai earns his spot as a talent we want to hear more from.”
Continuing a Legacy of Hits
Lion Face’s production success dates back to 2000 with the Unleaded Riddim, followed by Lyfe Turn Riddim (2011), The Ark Riddim (2020), and Divorce Court Riddim (2022). His collaborations span reggae greats including Shabba Ranks, Gyptian, Gappy Ranks, and now once again, J.C. Lodge.
With Signal making waves on YouTube and radio airwaves globally, fans can stream the song across platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music, and watch the official visualizer on YouTube.
