Garfield Angus Honoured with Humanitarian Award for Service to Kitson Town

ST. CATHERINE, JAMAICAVeteran journalist Garfield Angus has been awarded a Humanitarian Award by the Kitson Town Civic Committee in recognition of his outstanding service and dedication to the Kitson Town community in St. Catherine.

The award was presented during a ceremony honouring exemplary mothers at the Guanaboa Vale Primary School on May 18. The event was organized by the very group Angus founded in 2017—the Kitson Town Civic Committee—as part of his ongoing efforts to uplift and organize community initiatives.

The award citation reads:

“In grateful recognition of your outstanding service and dedication to the Kitson Town community.”

Former President of the College of Agriculture, Science and Education (CASE), the Reverend Dr. Mary-Ann Nichols, officially presented the award. Angus was joined on stage by committee member Jillian Wray, who read the citation outlining his continued commitment to community development.

Garfield Angus, known for his journalistic contributions and civic leadership, has been instrumental in spearheading local outreach projects aimed at education, youth empowerment, and civic pride throughout Kitson Town and surrounding communities.
