DJ Reem and Dutty Dex Shell Vybz Kartel & Friends Concert in Florida

SUNRISE, Florida  — In what is already being called one of the most unforgettable nights in recent dancehall history, DJ Reem of Champion Squad and Dutty Dex, known as the “Mayor of Miami,” delivered a crowd-hyping, high-energy set at the Vybz Kartel & Friends show held at the Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida.

Performing to a sold-out crowd, the two Florida-based DJs opened with a 60-minute set that ignited the arena and set the stage for the World Boss himself, Vybz Kartel.

The set began with Reem on the turntables and Dex on the mic, before they switched roles and Reem took full control of the crowd, commanding fans to wave side to side and sing along to anthem after anthem. One of the evening’s most emotional moments came when T.O.K.’s “When You Cry” played under a sea of waving phone lights. The energy hit a peak when the duo dropped Mavado’s “Gangsta Life”, earning one of the biggest forwards of the night.

“It was an amazing experience,” said DJ Reem. “The crowd was cheering when we introduced each other on stage. We saw how much of a mark we’ve made in our hometown.”

Dutty Dex added, “To see a whole arena giving forwards to the command of my voice is a sensational feeling. Performing for the greatest dancehall artist alive was unreal.”

The night’s live lineup was stacked, including performances by Gyptian, Offset, Russian, Stefflon Don, Majah Myjah (son of Bounty Killer), and surprise appearances from DJ Khaled. But the climax belonged to Vybz Kartel, who took the stage to “Miami Vice Episode” and kept the arena in a frenzy until the final note.

Kartel’s set was particularly significant, marking one of his first major U.S. performances since his release. “I felt like this was his best performance so far, especially vocally. You can tell he’s getting better with his health. The energy was just different,” Reem shared.

Together, DJ Reem and Dutty Dex showcased the strength of South Florida’s connection to dancehall and reminded fans why they are some of the most respected DJs in the region.
