Toronto, ON — Canada’s love affair with R&B takes centre stage this summer with the launch of SomeKinda R&B Festival, the nation’s first-ever music festival dedicated exclusively to rhythm and blues. The two-day event will take over Montebello Park in St. Catharines from August 30–31, 2025, promising a soulful, end-of-summer escape set against the backdrop of the Niagara wine region.

The festival’s inaugural edition features an all-star lineup, blending international chart-toppers and Canada’s emerging R&B talents. GRAMMY Award-winning artist Muni Long headlines Day 1, while Mariah the Scientist, known for her genre-defying style, takes the stage on Day 2. Fans can also expect performances from Kiana Ledé, Aqyila, FRVRFRIDAY, TheHonestGuy, and several other artists, spanning two stages with music running from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

Adding to the festival vibes, a second stage will be curated by leading cultural tastemakers like Somebody Anybody, DJ Killa Kels, and Tay-Jean, delivering day-long DJ sets that keep the energy flowing.

Amplifying R&B and Black Artistry in Canada

Founded by Good Folkes Company, No Boundries, and 925 Agency, SomeKinda R&B Festival is designed to fill a noticeable gap in Canada’s live music scene. Despite the country’s rich history of producing celebrated R&B talent, there has never been a festival dedicated solely to the genre.

“SomeKinda is more than a festival—it’s a cultural statement,” say the festival founders. “It’s about giving world class American and Canadian R&B the platform it deserves, while creating a weekend filled with soulful music, wine trails, and feel-good vibes.”

The festival’s mission extends beyond entertainment, focusing on reinvesting in local communities, spotlighting Black artistry, and boosting Niagara’s tourism and culture. Visitors can expect not just unforgettable music, but also access to the region’s wine trails, diverse culinary offerings, and a welcoming festival atmosphere for all ages.
