Budding Artist Olaide Banks Set to Release New Single “Ancient Wisdom” on September 26

Kingston, Jamaica – Rising reggae artist Olaide Banks is preparing to release his highly anticipated new single, “Ancient Wisdom,” on September 26, 2024. This reggae anthem marks the beginning of a new chapter in Banks’ musical journey and serves as the lead single from his forthcoming album, expected in early 2025.

“Ancient Wisdom” highlights Olaide’s evolving role as a voice of insight and reflection in today’s world. Known for his thoughtful lyrics and uplifting messages, Banks explains that the track represents his desire to offer listeners clarity and empowerment. “There wasn’t a specific moment or event that inspired the song,” says Banks. “But I feel my place in music right now is to bring a sense of wisdom and perspective to what’s happening around us. We’ve normalized things that don’t make sense, like the gaslighting from people in power. This song is for those who may feel lost, offering clarity and reminding them that they have the power to shape their reality.”

Produced in collaboration with European producer Terry Vibes, “Ancient Wisdom” was recorded across multiple locations, including Houston, Texas, Greece, and Kingston, Jamaica. The track features Olaide on vocals and percussion, with backing vocals from long-time collaborator Nikki Burt Bolt, and was mixed by the legendary Steven Stanley in Kingston. The song blends philosophical depth with reggae rhythms, creating a mantra-like hook that encourages listeners to align their thoughts, words, and actions with their true purpose.

One standout element of the single’s release is the accompanying visualizer, which introduces the concept of the “Wisdom Bench.” Inspired by a traditional Zimbabwean practice where young people seek advice from elders in the community, the “Wisdom Bench” reflects the themes of introspection and learning that are central to the song.

Olaide offers a powerful message through the song’s lyrics: “Let the words you speak bring life and the meditation of your heart, be inclined to truth and justice. Let your foot never depart from the path of love and peace.”

“Ancient Wisdom” is the first of three singles leading up to Banks’ upcoming 7-track EP, set to release in 2025. The EP will explore themes of mindfulness, social justice, and personal evolution, with a mix of traditional reggae, full band arrangements, and even new styles like deejaying—a first for the artist.

Since his last album All the Colors (2022), Olaide has gained momentum with notable performances, including opening for reggae icons Maxi Priest and Protoje. His unique fusion of reggae with a message has continued to resonate with fans, while also building connections with artists like Jamila Falak and Mortimer in Jamaica, and Abreu By Grace in the Dominican Republic. Olaide hopes to collaborate with these artists on upcoming projects.
