Kingston, Jamaica – Black-er, remembered for the hit song, “Bun Him” – a collaboration with Macka Diamond, is warning Jamaicans to repent. This comes on the heels of hurricane Beryl, the earliest category 5 Atlantic hurricane.
Beryl passed south of Jamaica last Wednesday, July 3, 2024, creating havoc in the housing, roads and agricultural sector.
Some 160,000 people and children is in need of assistance, a United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) report states.
Thousands of householders are yet to have their electricity and water restored.
According to Black-er, “We have been spared on many occasions, and people keep saying, Jamaica is a God-fearing country, but for the last couple of years, it seems we fear God no more. So, God has sent a message that he is still in control.
“We continue to kill and maim innocent people, including children and elders.
“Hardly a day passed when the news items do not consist of violent acts, corruption in high places and scamming, leaving the lives of victims shattered.
In addition, is the garbage being played on public vehicles, endorsed by even the educated in society.
“Beryl caught my 15 year-old daughter and myself at home in Portmore. My daughter had not witnessed a real hurricane since she was not around for Gilbert in 1988.
“She was a bit scared but I warned her to be still and continue to fear God.
“This time around I was monitoring the weather forecast days before, and I ensured both my house and soul was in order.
“I always pray and read my Bible, even when hurricanes are not coming.
“We suffered no losses, so I give God the glory.
“I offer my deepest sympathy to those who have lost families and friends.
“We might not know the time, or the hour when another disaster will strike, so let us live the life that God wants us to live, which is to abide by his ten commandments.”
Black-er’s latest project is “Sex,” a song produced by Bay Watch Production, released June 1, 2024.
“The song is about relationship. The idea is to educate the public of the importance of a woman in relationship and that women have as much power as men in the bedroom.
His other project titled “Gwaan Wid It,”- a summer song, was released June 30, 2024. The two will be enhanced with music videos.
