New Delhi, IndiaJamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness, currently on an official visit to India, has highlighted the deepening of bilateral relations between the two nations, pointing to key partnership agreements signed during his trip. In a message shared on social media on October 4, 2024, Holness underscored the importance of forging global partnerships, describing India as an “excellent development partner” whose accomplishments and innovations present tremendous opportunities for collaboration.

“India has made significant strides in its development and, though much larger than Jamaica, it has faced and overcome many of the same challenges we now confront,” Holness stated in his post. He emphasized that despite the geographic distance, Jamaica and India share strong bonds through culture, the Commonwealth, CARICOM, and cricket, making the renewed cooperation even more meaningful.

During the visit, Holness and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in fruitful discussions centered on a wide range of sectors, including health, education and training, energy, technology, and sports.
