Toronto’s Dance Immersion Launches Legacy Summit to Celebrate African American Movement Cultures

A Four-Day Celebration of African Roots in Dance
Toronto, ON – dance Immersion has announced the upcoming LEGACY SUMMIT, a four-day professional development and concert experience celebrating the African musical and movement roots of hip hop, jazz, house, krump, and more. The event takes place August 6–9, 2025, at Toronto’s Winchester Street Theatre and aims to highlight the impact and evolution of African American movement cultures.
Theme and Purpose
Under the theme “African Roots, Musical Routes, and Future Branches in African American Movement Cultures,” the LEGACY SUMMIT invites Black dance participants (ages 15+) to explore their artistic voice through training, choreography, and improvisational sessions. The summit is designed to foster creativity, cultural connection, and community empowerment in Black dance arts.
