Kingston, Jamaica – Global music icons Rocky Dawuni and Cedella Marley have officially premiered the music video for their powerful new collaboration, “I Got a Song”. The world debut took place on July 25, 2025, during the Rita Marley 79th birthday celebration, streamed live via Tuff Gong TV on YouTube, bringing fans together from across continents for the highly anticipated release.
The single, produced by AQUARIAN Records and distributed by Tuff Gong International, has quickly become a global anthem since its July 18 release. The track draws inspiration from the Aboriginal concept of “songlines”—cultural pathways connecting generations through music—highlighting the ability of sound to unite people worldwide.
A Cross-Continental Musical Journey
The “I Got a Song” video, directed by Ebenezer Brew (Slingshot) and Jolver Cutino, merges stunning visuals from Ghana and Miami, symbolizing the deep connection between Africa and the Caribbean. Dawuni’s scenes showcase the vibrant energy of Ghana’s landscapes and culture, while Marley’s segment reflects her Jamaican roots and global presence.
“The video brings the joyful spirit of ‘I Got a Song’ to life,” said Dawuni. “It showcases the beauty and power of music to transcend borders, connect cultures, and unite us in celebration of humanity.”
The timing of the premiere, coinciding with Rita Marley’s birthday, served as a tribute to the Marley matriarch, underlining the family’s multi-generational impact on reggae music and global culture.
