🇧🇸 Bahamas PM Hails National Youth Guard Graduates as Future Leaders

Written by on May 19, 2025

NASSAU, Bahamas – Prime Minister Philip Brave Davis has praised the achievements of the largest graduating class of the National Youth Guard, describing the cohort as a new generation of “responders and problem-solvers” equipped to serve and strengthen the nation.

Speaking on Friday, Davis stood proudly alongside Cohort 4 of the programme, which provides young Bahamians with hands-on training in carpentry, construction, masonry, electrical work, and other trades.

“These young Bahamians have stepped up to serve, lead, and strengthen the resilience of our nation,” Davis shared in a statement on social media.

The National Youth Guard, an initiative aimed at building resilience and national readiness, has increasingly become a pipeline to employment for young Bahamians, thanks to partnerships with the National Training Agency, Blue Lagoon, and major cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean (RCL) and MSC Cruises.

Many graduates of Cohort 4 have already secured jobs in the maritime and construction industries — a testament to the programme’s growing impact.

“This is what investing in our young people looks like,” Davis said. “I’m proud of this new generation of responders and problem-solvers. The future is in good hands.”

The National Youth Guard initiative continues to expand its reach, combining vocational training with national service, and helping ensure that Bahamian youth have the skills to meet both domestic challenges and global opportunities.
