Kenya Gears Up for Africa Cup of Nations 2027: Progress Report and Commitment

Kenya – In an ambitious bid to host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2027, Kenya’s President William Samoei Ruto has announced significant strides in the country’s preparations. The President took to social media to provide an update on the progress of the renovation and construction projects related to the tournament.

According to President Ruto, the renovation of the Kasarani and Nyayo stadia, alongside the construction of the new Talanta Sports City Stadium, are advancing on schedule. “We commit that Kasarani and Nyayo will be ready by the end of this year for the African Nations Championships 2025, while Talanta Sports City Stadium will be completed by December 2025 for AFCON 2027,” Ruto stated in a recent tweet.

The President’s remarks follow a recent meeting with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe at State House Nairobi. Motsepe expressed satisfaction with Kenya’s preparations for the prestigious tournament, reflecting confidence in the country’s readiness to co-host the event.

Kenya’s efforts to upgrade its sports infrastructure include the renovation of the Kasarani and Nyayo stadia, which are expected to be operational by the end of this year.
