Kingston, JamaicaReggae Sumfest continues to draw thousands of music lovers, including international tourists, to Jamaica. This iconic festival not only celebrates reggae music but also provides a platform for both emerging and established artists to showcase their talents.

One such artist is Raphi, who expressed his optimism for the festival’s future. “Despite any hiccups, Reggae Sumfest 2024 was great,” he said.

The six-night festival, held from July 14 to 20 at the Catherine Hall Complex in Montego Bay, featured a blend of local and international stars, including Grammy winner Lauryn Hill and YG Marley, the grandson of Bob Marley. This was Raphi’s second appearance at the festival, following his debut in 2023.

“Sumfest was great because everyone enjoyed themselves; it was another festival which attracted thousands of tourists spending well-needed dollars,” Raphi shared.

Reflecting on his previous performance, Raphi noted, “Looking back at 2023, I got 10 minutes to deliver my set which comprised three songs: ‘Life,’ ‘Thousand Miles,’ and ‘Seek.’ These songs have been getting a lot of airplay and are very catchy and positive.”

For Reggae Sumfest 2024, Raphi brought his A-game, stepping out in a green suit complemented by Clarks and shades. “I made my entrance around 11 o’clock, backed by the Warrior Love Band,” he recalled. His performance included hits like “Strength and King,” which represented the global audience, “Please Mi,” a song for the ladies released in 2020 on Rocktop Records, and “Life,” which he described as a song about making the right choices.

Currently, Raphi is working on a new single titled “Summer Vibes,” which celebrates the joys of sunny beaches, delicious food, and irresistible music. Born Raphiel Chambers in Pitfour, Montego Bay, Raphi was educated at home and became a member of the Nyabinghi tribe. He has an album, “Feel Like I Wanna Go Home,” and continues to build his catalogue with new singles.
