Kingston, Jamaica – Emerging as one of the most exciting new talents from Jamaica’s vibrant music scene, Marcilli (they/them) has released their unfiltered hip-hop/reggae anthem, “Lethal.” Out now via Monom Records/The Orchard/Sony Music, the track is accompanied by an ominous and energetic video shot in Kingston, Jamaica.

Produced by Grammy®-winner Alexx Antaeus, “Lethal” showcases Marcilli’s lyrical prowess and genre-blending style. The track kicks off with a trap/phonk rhythm infused with elements of drill music and transitions into reggae, making a bold statement with lines like “Never Trust a Pretty B with a Strap on…” This fierce and captivating track highlights Marcilli’s seamless merging of diverse musical influences.

Marcilli draws inspiration from a diverse array of artists, including Billie Eilish, Rihanna, Agust D, Doja Cat, and Megan Thee Stallion. As one of the first openly queer-identified Jamaican artists, Marcilli uses their music to amplify the voices of Caribbean queer individuals, who often face cultural hostility and strict societal norms.

“Lethal is that b*tch. I wouldn’t mess with her,” Marcilli reflected on their release. “I hope ‘Lethal’ becomes the go-to song to remind people who they’re talking to. Being a voice for the LGBTQ+ community in the Caribbean is important to me. I want to advocate for rights and safety and inspire young queers to follow their dreams and be their authentic selves.”

Antaeus shared his experience working on “Lethal,” saying, “I really enjoyed working on this track, incorporating elements of trap, phonk, and reggae. Working with Marcilli in the studio is always a pleasure; they’re punctual, prepared, and open to constructive criticism. As an ally to the queer community, I consider it my duty to maintain an inclusive attitude toward artists, engineers, and other creatives.”

Marcilli’s “Lethal” is set to make waves in the music industry, delivering a powerful message and unforgettable sound. The song and its accompanying video have already begun to capture the attention of audiences both locally and internationally, positioning Marcilli as a trailblazer in the evolving landscape of Jamaican music.

With their fearless approach to music and unwavering commitment to LGBTQ+ representation, Marcilli is not just breaking barriers but also paving the way for future generations of queer artists in the Caribbean. Stay tuned for more from this boundary-pushing artist as they continue to challenge norms and inspire change through their art.
