On May 21, Davis chaired the monthly Disaster Preparedness meeting, joined by officials from the Disaster Risk Management Authority, the Department of Meteorology, and his Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit. The meeting focused on finalizing coordination strategies and strengthening response systems across agencies.
“We’re ramping up coordination across all agencies—conducting shelter assessments, refining response plans, and launching public awareness efforts—to ensure our communities are ready for whatever the season brings,” said Davis.
The government is currently conducting a series of shelter assessments, updating emergency protocols, and rolling out a public education campaign to encourage residents to plan ahead.
Citizens are encouraged to visit getready.gov.bs — a national preparedness platform offering checklists, tips, and real-time emergency updates to help Bahamians protect their families and properties in the event of a storm.
With the Caribbean region facing increasingly intense storm systems due to climate change, early preparation and coordinated action remain critical priorities for small island nations like The Bahamas.
This has been Caribbean Pulse — feel the heartbeat of the Caribbean.
