KAMPALA, Uganda – In a message posted on social media on October 6, 2024, President Yoweri K. Museveni encouraged the youth of Uganda to focus on studying ideology and political economy as key tools for the country’s development. The President acknowledged the challenges Uganda faces, including issues of corruption and wealth distribution, but expressed confidence in the nation’s progress under the ideology of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
“Despite the challenges we face, including corruption and wealth distribution issues, Uganda is progressing,” President Museveni wrote in his post. “Our nation thrives on the ideology of the NRM, which promotes patriotism over tribal and religious identities.”
Yesterday, I had a productive meeting in Entebbe with youth leaders brought to me by Col. Edith Nakalema. I emphasized the importance of engaging in wealth creation to combat unemployment effectively. The source of jobs lies in wealth creation, not solely in waiting for… pic.twitter.com/HmufBXoSo0

Museveni emphasized that the youth, as future leaders, have a crucial role in shaping Uganda’s future. He urged them to take advantage of opportunities to study ideology and political economy, fields that he believes will equip them with the knowledge to make a real difference.
“If the youth of Uganda wish to make a real difference, I encourage them to study ideology and political economy,” Museveni advised. “It is good that the youth leaders want to go to Kyankwanzi because it’s in Kyankwanzi where they take them through the course on Political Economy.”
Kyankwanzi, known for its political training programs, has long been a center for nurturing Uganda’s next generation of leaders through rigorous courses on ideology and governance. Museveni’s emphasis on youth leaders attending the Kyankwanzi programs reflects his commitment to fostering a generation that prioritizes national unity over divisive identities.
As Uganda navigates its socio-economic challenges, the President’s call to action aims to galvanize the country’s youth to step up and drive positive change, aligning their efforts with the NRM’s vision for a more united and prosperous Uganda.
