Kingston, Jamaica – Rising star Quan Dajai Henriques, known globally for his portrayal of a young Bob Marley in the hit film Bob Marley: One Love, is stepping into the music spotlight with his debut single “Anger n Wrath.” The track is featured on The Signal Riddim, a five-track compilation produced by Richard ‘Lionface’ Thomas under his label Lion King Muzik.
The Jamaican-born actor gained recognition for his performance in One Love, where his striking resemblance to the reggae icon and his ability to channel Marley’s youthful energy earned him praise as the “standout performer” in the film (World Music Views). His transition to music marks a natural progression for the young talent, who has deep roots in the industry—he is a cousin to international dancehall superstar Sean Paul (Sean Paul Henriques).
A Message to the “Kings of the Earth”
“Anger n Wrath” delivers a thought-provoking message, calling on global leaders to live in righteousness to avoid invoking divine consequences. Quan Dajai’s gentle yet commanding vocals highlight themes of morality, spirituality, and unity, layered over a classic reggae one-drop beat.
Speaking on the collaboration, producer Richard ‘Lionface’ Thomas said:
“I’ve known Quan for some time and felt the time was right to bring him to the studio. His future is bright.”
Quan Dajai credits Lionface’s mentorship for helping him shape his debut track, saying that the production process was guided by a shared vision for authenticity and positive impact.
The Signal Riddim: A Return to Roots
The Signal Riddim compilation takes reggae back to its origins, featuring multiple artists on one riddim—a tradition that defined the genre in its early days. With contributions from seasoned performers like J.C. Lodge, Maxi Priest, Sean Paul, Luciano, and now Quan Dajai, the project explores themes of love, faith, and inspiration.
The compilation has already gained international traction, premiering on Isle 95 and The Reef 103.5 FM in the US Virgin Islands, MoodsRadio UK, and Urban Xtra Radio in the UK. Listeners have praised the riddim for its diverse lineup and its authentic reggae sound.
Lionface, a veteran of the reggae and dancehall scene since 2000, has produced notable projects such as the Unleaded Riddim, Lyfe Turn Riddim, The Ark Riddim, and Divorce Court Riddim. He has worked with prominent names including Sean Paul, Shabba Ranks, Gyptian, and Gappy Ranks.
