Chronixx, born Jamar Rolando McNaughton on October 10, 1992, is a Jamaican reggae artist known for his role in the “Reggae Revival” movement. His music blends reggae, dancehall, and hip-hop, and often explores themes of resilience, spirituality, and social consciousness

Early Life & Career

Chronixx was exposed to music from a young age through his father, the singer Chronicle. He began writing songs at age 5 and started producing music in his teens. His early career included harmony vocals for artists like Lutan Fyah and production work for Konshens and Popcaan

He gained prominence in 2012 and 2013 with hits like “Smile Jamaica” and “Here Comes Trouble”, and toured internationally with his Zincfence Redemption Band. His 2014 EP Dread & Terrible and 2017 album Chronology both topped the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, with Chronology earning a Grammy nomination

Recent News: New Album “Exile”

Chronixx has announced his long-awaited return with a new album titled “Exile”, set to release later in 2025. This marks his first full-length project since Chronology in 2017

. He debuted a new song, “Don’t Be Afraid”, during his performance at Reggaeland 2025 in Milton Keynes, UK.

The album is seen as a spiritual successor to Dela Splash, a previously planned project that was shelved. Chronixx cited fatherhood and the pandemic as reasons for his hiatus, saying it was a time for reflection and growth

Artistic Evolution

Now 32, Chronixx describes himself as an artist “unbound by genre,” drawing inspiration from legends like Bunny Wailer and Burning Spear. He aims to create music that is introspective and socially aware, moving away from escapism and toward deeper conversations
