Operation Black Vote Canada Reflects on Milestones and Looks Ahead to Fall 2024 Events

Toronto – As Spring and Summer 2024 come to a close, Operation Black Vote Canada (OBVC) extends its heartfelt gratitude to supporters for their unwavering commitment to its initiatives. Over the past two decades, OBVC has significantly expanded its outreach within Black communities, increasing representation across all levels of government and maintaining active dialogue with political parties to advocate for greater inclusion and the needs of Black Canadians.

This year marked a period of remarkable engagement, with OBVC hosting and attending several impactful events, including the Presentation to Black Women Members at the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO), the Brunch with the Mayor of Pennsylvania, and the Seat at the Table initiative. These events fostered important conversations around equity, leadership, and representation. Additionally, the Vote 16 Rally, advocating for lowering the voting age to 16, and Dinner & Politics: Men’s Edition provided opportunities for men to discuss their experiences in politics and for community members to connect with political leaders. Meetings with key figures from all levels of government further highlighted OBVC’s ongoing advocacy.

Upcoming Events for Fall 2024

Looking ahead to the coming months, OBVC is excited to unveil a lineup of highly anticipated events aimed at continuing this momentum:

Dinner and Politics in Montreal – Kicking off Fall 2024, this event will bring political leaders and community members together for brunch, vibrant discussions, and networking opportunities. Attendees will have the chance to engage directly with key decision-makers.
Women’s History Month (October) – In honor of the invaluable contributions of Black women, OBVC will host a series of panel discussions and community workshops. These events will shine a spotlight on Black women’s achievements in politics and beyond.
National Dinner and Politics: Men’s Edition – Following the success of the Spring event, this special edition in the Fall will focus on the experiences and impact of Black men in politics. It promises to foster deep dialogue and build valuable connections.
20th Anniversary Launch – OBVC will conclude the year with a celebration of its 20th anniversary. This milestone event will unveil important research findings, reflect on the organization’s journey, and share exciting plans for the future.
