Oakland’s Nuvo Noir Set to Spotlight Black and Brown Excellence on New Year’s Eve
Written by on November 23, 2024
OAKLAND, Calif. — Nuvo Noir, a premier celebration of Black and Brown creativity across art, fashion, and technology, is gearing up to ring in the new year with a dynamic event at Oakland’s historic Geoffrey’s Inner Circle on December 31, 2024. The evening will feature jazz sensation Ayo Brame, along with a range of interactive and innovative experiences designed to showcase cultural excellence and unity.
The festivities begin at 8:00 PM with Brame, a 17-year-old Oakland native and internationally acclaimed tenor saxophonist, headlining the Networking Mixer. Known for his emotionally rich performances, Brame has captivated audiences worldwide with his seamless fusion of jazz traditions and modern influences. His impressive resume includes performances at San Francisco’s Oracle Park for Willie Mays’ memorial, headlining the San Jose Jazz Festival, and two sold-out shows at Oakland’s Yoshi’s Jazz Club.
Nuvo Noir’s program will expand beyond music to incorporate fashion, art, and technology. The evening includes an exclusive fashion show by Saint Maurice Clothing and an interactive art installation powered by Black Terminus AR, the brainchild of Oakland archivist and technologist Damien McDuffie. A high-energy New Year’s Eve celebration, DJ’d by Authentic Craft, will cap off the night.
Ellias Kenneth Fullmore, founder of Saint Maurice Clothing and a Morehouse College alumnus, emphasized the event’s mission to honor tradition while envisioning new possibilities. Nuvo Noir transforms Geoffrey’s Inner Circle—a once-segregated social club turned into a beacon of Black cultural pride—into a hub for innovation and artistry.
Nuvo Noir’s organizers are inviting community support for event production through a Kickstarter campaign, which has earned the platform’s coveted “Project We Love” distinction. Tickets for the event can be purchased on the Visit Oakland website or via Eventbrite.
