Ajax, ON – A celebration of Jamaican culture is coming to Ajax with the debut of YAAD FEST, a family-friendly music and dance festival on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 57 Notion Road. Running from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., this highly anticipated event is set to be an unforgettable experience, showcasing the best of Jamaican music, dance, and vibrant cultural expressions.

The festival, themed around the concept of “home” (as “Yaad” means home in Jamaican Patois), aims to unite families, friends, and people of all cultures under one roof, offering a day filled with entertainment, food, and community spirit. YAAD FEST is open to all, with organizers inviting attendees to “come celebrate with your family and friends. Be a part of something special.”

Event Hosts and Performers

Hosting the inaugural YAAD FEST will be the multi-award-winning DJ Suppa Natty, who will be joined by Janet Mann, the talented host of the Jamaica Day Music Festival. Together, they will guide attendees through a spectacular day of entertainment featuring both local and international talent.

Kicking off the event is a lineup of local performers, including Legato, Bugatti Bonsu, and Jelly Too Fly. These amazing acts promise to deliver high-energy performances not to be missed.

As the festival progresses, the stage will come alive with the sounds of internationally renowned Jamaican artists. Dancehall pioneers Tanto Metro & Devonte, whose smash hit “Everyone Falls in Love” made waves on the Top 40 Billboard charts, will headline the event. The legendary Nadine Sutherland, an award-winning Jamaican reggae vocalist whose career was nurtured by Bob Marley himself, will also grace the stage, transporting the audience back to the roots of reggae.

From Jamaica, dance sensations TandA Twins—known for performing alongside global stars like Chris Brown—will bring their electrifying moves to YAAD FEST. Other highlights of the star-studded lineup include dancehall artist Courtney Melody, reggae hitmakers Jisgy King, and Grammy-winning artist Patexx.

Activities and Attractions

YAAD FEST is more than just music and dance. The event will feature a children’s play area complete with a bouncy castle and games to keep younger attendees entertained. A variety of vendors will also be on hand, offering everything from food and clothing to jewelry.

For fashion enthusiasts, a Fashion Show will be presented, showcasing talented designers with pieces available for purchase after the show. A Fashion Tent will also feature dazzling Carnival costumes and designs for 2025, giving attendees a glimpse into the upcoming carnival season.

The musical energy will be sustained throughout the day by a stellar DJ lineup, featuring local talents such as Black Reaction Sound, King Aggression Sound, Ice Burg Sound, Fire Squad, Mawga K, DJ Dimes, DJ Bigga Boss, DJ Marcus, and DJ Blackout Boss.

Supporting the Community

In true community spirit, YAAD FEST will also host a 50-50 Draw, where attendees can purchase tickets at any price they choose. Half of the proceeds will go to the lucky winner, while the other half will be donated to a local food bank. This initiative highlights the festival’s commitment to giving back to the community while creating a fun and inclusive atmosphere for all.

The organizers of YAAD FEST invite everyone to “join us for a family day and show us what home means to you.” With an exciting lineup of entertainment, activities, and community engagement, this inaugural event promises to be a unique and heartwarming celebration of culture, unity, and fun for the entire family.
