Big win for McGrath in daCosta Cup Round of 32

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — McGrath High scored a lopsided 8-1 win over St Mary High in their ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup Round of 32 game played at the Ewarton Sports Complex on Wednesday.

It was the biggest win of the round as  McGrath got off to a fast start in their quest to qualify from Group 8 for the next round.

Meanwhile, Garvey Maceo are tied with Happy Grove on three points after they edged Christiana High 1-0 in their game played at Brooks Park.

There were also wins for Paul Bogle High, St Elizabeth Technical, Manchester High, Happy Grove High and Garvey Maceo High.

Paul Bogle High blanked Titchfield High 3-0 to take over the lead in Group 7 as Happy Grove edged Holmwood Technical 3-2 in their Group 5 game played at Carder Park thanks to a double from Bonny Chisholm who also got the winner in time added.

Chisholm gave Happy Grove the lead after 22 minutes and Kyeill Grant doubled the advantage in the 60th minute before Holmwood staged a rally and drew level.

Lerone Stewart pulled one goal back for Holmwood Technical when he scored in the 68th minute and Oraine Brown drew them level in the 79th minute.

Chisholm however scored the winner in the fifth minute of time added.

Manchester High ended Mannings School’s unbeaten run at eight games, edging them 1-0 in their Group 3 game played at Llandilo Community Centre with Shermaiah Solman scoring the winner in the 35th minute.

St Elizabeth Technical are the leaders in Group 3 however, after blanking William Knibb Memorial 2-0 in Santa Cruz.

Both games, played at Jarrett Park, ended in 1-1 scorelines. Browns Town came from a goal down to draw with Maldon High while Cornwall College rallied for a 1-1 draw against Kemps Hill High in the second game.
