Kingston, Jamaica – Anthony Cruz left Marcus Garvey celebrations a winner with songs which inspires and motivates, not only blacks but everyone who attended IRIE FM Tribute to Marcus Garvey, Sunday, August 18, 2024.

Reminiscing, Cruz who was forced to cruise under the covers of the heavy traffic, had a bird’s eye view of patrons who supported Garvey’s celebration.

“They came from across Jamaica, representing communities too many to list. But, it was a good look with the stage surrounded by hundreds of Garvey fans and sellers with their finest wares.

“I stopped by a stall and was asked to do a complimentary commercial, meet and greet friends until my time was ripe.

This was about midday and in the words of Britain’s Got Talent Susan Boyle, “I am going to make this crowd erupt” was somewhere in Cruz’s head.

Cruz began with a 5.5 earthquake on the 107 FM scale, dressed in a camouflage pair of pants, black T-shirt and green headband promising a rich mined catalogue of songs.

His introductión was first honors, including degrees of song writer, producer, recording artiste and a nephew of Garnet Silk the man whose voice still reign supreme.

Cruz came under the covers with, “No Guns A Dance” as the nation weeps over the mass killing of eight persons in Clarendon.

This gained a capital from the crowd as Cruz appealed to everyone to condemn every form of violence.

He had to do over the song with calls of “forward” “lift up,” and “Come Again.”

“I just a come from Florida, just heard about this Clarendon killing. Everyone who condemn the killing hands in the air.” And every hand was in the air.

The song “Too Bloody”- a combination with Buju Banton, was next, followed by ” Marcus Garvey Words Come To Pass” an original of Burning Spear.

There was no stopping for Cruz as he dived into his latest project “Marcus Garvey,” then hit them with Garnett Silk “Mama Africa.”

But, he could not leave the stage without his super hit “Half-Way-Tree” an anthem which will forever be remembered, like Marcus Garvey.
