“When I conceptualized the New Social Housing Programme, my mission was to radically transform lives. That is the responsibility of a good leader and a government that truly cares about its people,” Holness wrote.

The Prime Minister also shared that nearly 300 homes have been handed over so far, positively impacting the lives of many Jamaicans, including the elderly, those affected by natural disasters, and single-parent households. He expressed how each home provided represents a meaningful shift in the lives of recipients and the broader community.

“With every single key I present, I feel the transformation happening in the lives of our people. That keeps me energized and ready to deliver more and more, because you deserve it,” he said.

Holness affirmed his commitment to continuing the work, ensuring that Jamaicans, particularly those who have faced hardships, are given the chance to lead better lives. He concluded by emphasizing that the people of Jamaica “deserve the good things in life,” pledging his determination to keep delivering on that promise.

The New Social Housing Programme, launched as part of the Housing, Opportunity, Production and Employment (HOPE) initiative, aims to tackle the housing challenges faced by many low-income Jamaicans. The initiative has been lauded for providing modern, safe, and comfortable homes to those most in need, with the Prime Minister often personally presenting keys to new homeowners during handover ceremonies.

This heartfelt message by Prime Minister Holness comes as a reminder of his government’s ongoing efforts to uplift citizens, particularly those in vulnerable circumstances, and reflects his vision for a more inclusive Jamaica where everyone has access to the basic necessities for a dignified life.
