Rasta Blacspade is very passionate about Marcus Garvey and is always ready to defend him. The Jamaican- born singjay threw out a serious warning in “Jah Jah Live” one of his mega songs.
“Diss Marcus Garvey and you make the biggest mistake,” marks the opening words.
“Garvey has done a lot for Jamaicans. Do you hear the calls, heralding voices that Garvey teachings must be taught in schools. Such a call is being made even before he was crowned National Hero of Jamaica.
“Marcus Garvey has given many the power, let me reframe and say tools, to see themselves as progressive, and to work towards their successes in life.
“I know as a fact, that too often blacks see themselves as inferior to other races due to the history which they have been taught overtime. So, they misjudged their capabilities believing they were followers and not inventors.
“Blacks are responsible for over 1000 inventions. Garrett Morgan, for example, invented the three- light traffic signal in 1923. We can also think of Thomas Jennings getting things right in dry cleaning clothes.
“Garvey allows us to realise that our potential is limitless and that we can achieve through unity.
The Love Over All Things artiste, reminds us that ” three important works of Garvey include his books which have taught blacks how they can uplift their race through unity, self- discipline and hard work.
The “Be like The Sea” artiste concludes by repeating his stance that, “disrespecting our elders, like Marcus Garvey, is one of the biggest mistake anyone could make.”
Rasta Blacspade is preparing for his first major show in Gambia, África come December, 2024.
